Douglas Squirrel Action - sciurus
Douglas squirrels (Tamiasciurus douglasii) are native to the coastal forests of Washington, British Columbia and Southeastern Alaska. The smallest of the North American squirrels, they are also the most energetic and vocal. With their small size and extreme gymnastic skills, these little squirrels harvest cones from the small end branches of conifers that would not support larger squirrels. A pile of cone scales under a conifer shows the work of a Douglas Squirrel.
